Five reasons you should do Calisthenics

Getting fit is like undertaking a journey, and one can choose different paths and mediums to get on with it. While gymming (or say running for that matter) is the most commonly opted for method, calisthenics is one exciting technique which is gaining a lot of popularity these days. Since I have been researching and reading a lot on calisthenics which is a form of body weight training, my intention in this article is to emphasize the great benefits of this form of workout.

Here are 5 reasons you should try Calisthenics:

1. Achieve impossible feats

When we refer to ‘fitness’, it is not just about how we look, but also what we can achieve with our body. Calisthenics is a great way to train your body and mind to do some “super-human” stuff like handstands, kip-ups, bridges, superman push ups etc.

2. Cheap and Best – It is the cheapest means of training your body and mind. You can train in calisthenics anywhere. You just need a bar and floor to train. This saves you from spending big bucks on an expensive gym membership.

3. Get Chiseled

Sport. Young athletic man doing push-ups. Muscular and strong guy exercising.

Calisthenics won’t make you look like a bodybuilder but it can still give you that chiseled look of a fitness model! Body weight training is tough, as it needs much more than just strength. Calisthenics, on the other hand, is a great way to train your mind to integrate muscle coordination and to be able to perform compound movements with ease.

4. Develop Speed and Flexibility along with Strength

Calisthenics helps you excel in three major areas: Strength, Power, and Flexibility. When we do other forms of training like training with weights or machine, we focus on strength and miss out on agility and flexibility. Or, if we train for marathons, we train for endurance and miss out on increasing the strength. However, with Calisthenics, we achieve a major three aspects that form the core of any fitness regime.

5. Be your Creative best!

You can never get bored of Calisthenics as the sport helps you discover yourself and tap into your creativity. The creativity that it allows for, also makes it an excellent boredom-buster! And the best part is the satisfaction that it provides – it is amazing to be able to execute movements which seemed impossible and beyond our abilities at one point!

So, next time, give calisthenics a go, and take your fitness to the next level!
