Whoever said that ‘THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE’ said it just right! Water is a simple everyday compound containing two hydrogen atoms for each oxygen atom; yet we all need water to survive and thrive at our optimum.”

My biggest pet peeve when travelling is the security checkpoint at the airport because they confiscate my beloved water bottles and my eyes well up with tears upon the sight. Water is that important to me; yes I’m not kidding or exaggerating here. Whenever my clients feel lethargic, hungry or constipated, I give them the task of gulping down a couple of litres. Well, why not? After all, our brain is composed of 90 percent water and a major part of blood and muscles consists of water too.

Hello hydration, goodbye medication !

  1. The ultimate mood booster:

Ever wondered why your kids are cranky despite spending the entire day out and after indulging in ice creams and pizza? Get them drinking the magic potion and see the difference! Try it on yourself too, every time you feel like taking a nap or stress creeping in.

  1. Headache healer:

Having a bad headache after a night out with friends? That’s dehydration in flesh! It’s not only alcohol, if you guzzle a whole lot of diuretics like coffee and sodas which tend to flush more water out of the body than needed, then water is your only fix. Trust me, I have bid adieu to hexedrin and vasograin (migraine medicines) since the time I have adopted the habit of pouring down this magic potion down my throat.

  1. Improves alertness and energy:

Drinking sufficient water helps improve our mental functioning and cognitive abilities. So a bottle of water is what you need before your next presentation or exam. When it comes to physical endurance, sufficient water intake helps us perform better in the gym as it keeps the blood more free flowing and increases oxygen transport to the muscles. Also, it regulates our body temperature and as a result, our muscles and joints work more efficiently.

  1. Lesser cravings, higher metabolism:

Whenever you get an intense sugar craving, try drinking a couple of glasses of water. 95 percent of the times you will realise that you were just dehydrated or thirsty. Researchers have attested the role of water in a higher metabolic rate which in turn accelerates your fat loss.

  1. Gorgeous skin:

Adequate water intake helps you to get rid of harmful toxins and free radicals from the body through sweat and urine. This, in turn, acts as an anti ageing agent and will keep you away from premature ageing. Yes, you can thank me later for that glow on your face.

So how much water should you drink daily? Well it’s simple. You need to consume half your body weight in ounces of water, i.e. If you weigh 160 lbs, you need to drink 80 oz of water per day. If you’re not a fan of plain water, try infusing it with lemon, mint, ginger or basil.

Let’s get drinking!
