Getting fit is like undertaking a journey, and one can choose different paths and mediums to get on with it. While gymming (or say running for that matter) is the most commonly opted for method, calisthenics is one exciting technique which is gaining a lot of popularity these days. Since I have been researching and reading a lot on calisthenics which is a form of body weight training, my intention in this article is to emphasize the great benefits of this form of workout.

1. Achieve impossible feats
When we refer to ‘fitness’, it is not just about how we look, but also what we can achieve with our body. Calisthenics is a great way to train your body and mind to do some “super-human” stuff like handstands, kip-ups, bridges, superman push ups etc.
2. Cheap and Best – It is the cheapest means of training your body and mind. You can train in calisthenics anywhere. You just need a bar and floor to train. This saves you from spending big bucks on an expensive gym membership.

Calisthenics, on the other hand, is a great way to train your mind to integrate muscle coordination and to be able to perform compound movements with ease.

When we do other forms of training like training with weights or machine, we focus on strength and miss out on agility and flexibility.
