When he was growing up, Harsh Pal Singh was your regular happy-go-lucky kid: fond of comics and video games and the apple of his parents’ eye. And like most kids, he loved chocolates, burgers, and fizzy drinks. As a result, before you knew it, the skinny lad had grown up into a 140 kg man with a burgeoning 56-inch belly!
Along the way, he fell in love, got married and started taking care of his business. Desperate to get into shape, he made several half-hearted attempts to lose weight. You name it, he’s done it: Crash Diets, Salad Diets, GM Diets, Boiled Chicken Diets. He’d lose some weight but would end up regaining all that he’d lost and then some. He was constantly jeered at and mocked for his inability to lose weight and keep it off. Being the butt of peoples’ ridicule started taking a toll on Mr. Singh and he slipped into a depression.
Things came to a head on 22 May 2012 when a bolt out of the blue turned his world upside-down.
He suffered a nervous breakdown. Semi-conscious and hallucinating, he was rushed to the hospital. Several days and many tests later, the doctors came back with a diagnosis: TIA or Transient Ischemic Attack.
Unable to move or do anything by himself, his wife was a pillar of support in these dark times. But soon, Mr. Singh’s fighting spirit came forth and he decided to take charge of his health and life.
He had to learn how to walk all over again. Over a period of 6 months, he slowly rebuilt his motor skills and started taking baby steps towards reclaiming his life.
In December 2013, he was finally declared fit enough to start exercising. But fear gripped him and he didn’t do anything for the next 3 years.
Then, in December 2016, he discovered the SQUATS Facebook group.
Encouraged by the many transformation stories he read, he decided to do something about his own health. He joined a gym and started following a structured diet. In the very first month, he lost 7.9 kgs!
Over time, he lost 38.9 kgs, reduced his waist circumference by 21 inches and got off his medicines. But perhaps, most importantly, he gained a renewed sense of self and purpose.
The journey is not yet over for Mr. Singh. His goal is to reach 15% body fat. While he already serves as an inspiration for many, he now wants to help other people reach their fitness and health goals by becoming a Fitness Consultant himself!
He’s already overcome so many seemingly insurmountable obstacles, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that Mr. Singh will achieve these goals as well! He firmly believes that every day gives us a chance to become better than our previous self. Looking at his amazing journey, one knows this to be the truth!
